Romans 8

Looking Up

I feel like God has put Romans 8 on my heart lately. I can’t seem to get it out of my mind. The book for Roman’s is AWESOME. There really is so much to get out of it. Lately I’ve seen my kids be able to memorize fairly big chunks of scripture within an hour. I feel a little jealous. I’m pretty sure I can’t live up to that. Either way, I think it’s time [...]

BASIC by Francis Chan

BASIC series

Francis Chan has a video series called BASIC. There are 7 different topics. I’ve seen 6 out of the 7 so far and they are really good. I stumbled across this launch event where Francis talks about the series. It’s broken up into 2 different videos, but I think it’s worth the 20 minutes or so. I think Francis really hits the mark with these thoughts. As someone who reads the Bible as truth, I [...]

The Lord is my shepherd

pastures

I am so thankful for God – who continues to give me such joy out of prayer and the study of His Word. I am praying He will continue to align me with opportunities to share Christ. I’ve been labeled as being disciplined. I guess that may be true, but from my perspective it’s simply desire. I want to know God more. I want to be as much as He will let me be. I [...]

Water In Hard Ground

God's seed

Lately I feel like the Holy Spirit is the only thing that loosens the soil beneath my feet. He the main ingredient in helping the seed Christ planted in me, grow. In fact, the Holy Spirit is the only Godly part of my body. Sure, I was made by God for God, but when I asked Jesus into my life, my so-called “reason for being” changed pretty dramatically. There’s NO WAY I can do anything [...]

Rejoice!

rejoiceicon

Every night I read a devotional with my son, Wilder. Tonight’s was about “The Book of Life”. We talked about it and read a short passage in Revelations 21: 22-26 where it talks about Jesus (the Lamb) holding The Book of Life. The book contains the names for people of all nations who are going to be with Him forever. We talked about asking Jesus into our lives as a Savior. Wilder said he’d done [...]

Got Time?

clock

Don’t you wish relationships were easy? Don’t you wish you could just sit back and things would take care of themselves? After all, who has time to work so hard at yet another relationship? I mean, you already have a husband or wife,  your kids, co-workers at the office…and the list goes on from there! Maintaining a social life can be draining! Think about it…without working at a specific relationship, you’ll soon find problems or distance. You’ll [...]

The Whole of You

C.S. Lewis said, "If you're thinking of becoming a Christian, I warn you, you're embarking on something which will take the whole of you." This quote rings especially true for me lately. Despite not having posted in awhile, it's certainly not because my faith has dimmed. It's actually quite the opposite.

C.S. Lewis said, “If you’re thinking of becoming a Christian, I warn you, you’re embarking on something which will take the whole of you.” This quote rings especially true for me lately. Despite not having posted in awhile, it’s certainly not because my faith has dimmed. It’s actually quite the opposite. Since my last post, I’ve finished reading and studying the book of Matthew, Colossians, 1 Thessalonians, 2 Thessalonians, and Ecclesiastes (Solomon’s words blew me away!). Beyond that, I finished [...]

A Commitment Letter

Commitment as a Christian

This was given to my wife and I on the day of our Baptism. It was a letter from an unknown African Pastor (at least that’s what it said). It’s a fantastically written account of their Commitment to Christ. “I’m part of the fellowship of the unashamed. I have Holy Spirit power. The die has been cast. I have stepped over the line. The decision has been made. I’m a disciple of His. I won’t [...]

Feeling Is Believing

believe in God

Sometimes I think to myself, “people must think I’m crazy”. But beyond an irrational explanation for such an intense feeling, I really can’t explain it better than – “it’s just the way I’m feeling it.” I have tried to get the words right in my head before making this post over the last few days, but I really can’t seem to get it right. So, I’m doing it anyway. Now if this is your first [...]

My Baptism

My Baptism

Yesterday morning (Sunday July 25, 2010), my wife and I got Baptized. Samantha and I were nervously excited to say the least. It was like our wedding day, but different. It was that kind of feeling you get when you are about to embark on something so huge, so extra large, that it was hard to imagine really. We had a number of friends who were pumped to watch which only added to the celebration. [...]

A God Moment

Clouds from above

I’ve been focusing so much on God that I’ve definitely begun to lose my ego. I’m humble and peaceful. It’s pretty incredible really and something I’ve never experienced before. My trust in Him is giving me these abilities that I never thought were possible. So I was on a plane from Atlanta to Boston earlier this week. I was reading a fantastic book by Mike Yaconell. He called himself a Kmart Minister. That alone gives [...]

Just the Start

Drive Home

I’m Jason Davenport. I was one of those people who thought they had it all figured out. Someone who thought science and undeniable proof was the bridge to logic and understanding in this world. I wasn’t raised in a Church, nor to necessarily follow God. I was definitely one of those doubters you run into form time to time. Really the whole topic just made me kinda laugh. I thought the world was about stuff, [...]
