Got Time?

Don’t you wish relationships were easy? Don’t you wish you could just sit back and things would take care of themselves?

After all, who has time to work so hard at yet another relationship? I mean, you already have a husband or wife,  your kids, co-workers at the office…and the list goes on from there! Maintaining a social life can be draining!

Think about it…without working at a specific relationship, you’ll soon find problems or distance. You’ll see trust slowly start to erode. If you don’t communicate to your spouse enough, or avoid spending time with your friends, they gradually begin to drift away and you end up separated from them. It’s really the same with God.

So why do we all fail at it so often with Him?

This is really the one critical relationship we should focus ALL of our “precious” time on. But for a lot of us, He barely gets second place, sometimes…even last. I’m pretty sure that quick prayer we say while we’re half asleep at the end of the day isn’t exactly what God had in mind. That’s really nothing but leftovers. And to think, that’s sometimes all we give to our Heavenly Father, the God of the Universe! My guess is…he’s not too impressed by us just “showing up.

Relationships are precious and they require a real investment. And it’s through Christ that can we experience joy in ALL of our relationships. Only He gives us the ability to love someone, no matter what. That’s pretty incredible, really. The Holy Spirit actually gives us the ability to love much bigger than our own human capacity.

The problem is – you must be near God in order to hear God.

James 4: 7-8

7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

I continually struggle with keeping clear focus on my personal relationship with my Heavenly Father. With all of my other relationships, work, and family stuff, who has time? But let me tell you, when I do make Him the focus of things…my entire world changes. When I start my mornings with God, the day has the ability to change into something even more joyful and amazing than I’d ever thought possible. And the more I work on my relationship with Him, I begin to want nothing more.

Luke 11: 23

23 “Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.

How are you giving your relationship the proper time?

I'm a guy who's suddenly been given super powers. I call it the Holy Spirit. I went from an unbeliever to a passion filled follower. My new belief is giving me strength I’d NEVER felt before and the Holy Spirit is changing me, from the inside out. I wake up every day now, ready to take on the world for Him, not for myself. Oh yeah, and I do make typos and grammar errors so forgive me.
